Live Well Hub
It's been a month since we closed the doors of North Bank Cafe, and we are hard at work transforming our Live Well Hub so that our community has more spaces to come together to improve their health and wellbeing. We are working on plans to renovate our kitchen and create an accessible downstairs space for new groups and workshops.
We have been approached by several groups and organisations looking to hire the space. If you are interested in using our space, please email us at info@livewellwithcancer.co.uk and we will be happy to discuss ways we can work together to help our community to live well.
North East Nipple Project
We are renovating our back room to create space for pop-up sessions ran by Northeast Nipple Project, who provide free areola tattooing for women who have undergone a mastectomy and breast reconstruction because of breast cancer. Stay tuned for updates as we work towards launching this exciting collaboration from our Live Well Hub.
Live Well Fashion Show
We are so excited for our Live Well Fashion Show! Tickets are now on sale for the event, held at Village Hotel on 21st June. We hope you can join us to cheer on members of our community as they strut their stuff on the catwalk, wearing sustainable fashion supplied by our friends at St Oswald's Hospice. Tickets for a night of fun, food and entertainment cost £30 and include a welcome drink and buffet. Make sure to buy yours now before they sell out!
Live Well in West Moor
It has been our privilege to run our Live Well in West Moor project from West Moor Community Centre. We'd like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has helped make the project such a success, including our facilitators, our attendees and the lovely team at West Moor.
The project would not have been possible without funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, and we'd like to say special thank you to the North East Combine Authority, North Tyneside Council and VODA for making it all possible.
As part of the legacy of the project, we were delighted to produce copies of The Wellbeing 9-a-Day: Wellness Week Edition, which helps people transform their health and wellbeing by building the nine foundational habits of a healthy lifestyle.
You can register for a free copy of The Wellness Week Edition by filling in our form here or visiting our Live Well Hub.
Physical activity support after breast cancer
We are delighted to be hosting Dr Sam Orange from Newcastle University, who will be running a series of in-person workshops funded by Breast Cancer Now. The project aims to develop a programme to improve women's access to physical activity support after breast cancer treatment. Everyone who signs up will receive a £40 voucher for each workshop attended.
You can register your interest by emailing sam.orange@newcastle.ac.uk
